CHRONIC PAIN: Can it become an addiction?
This 1.5 hour powerpoint presentation is based on my 32 years of experience as a physiotherapist. I love my job and have done my best to help my patients with various physical pains and injuries. I have been given the opportunity and the privilege to positively change someone else’s life and I certainly don’t take that responsibility lightly or for granted.
Although most patients experiencing acute pain improve and recover and go back to their normal life activities, sadly based on statistics, one out of five do not recover and get labelled as “CHRONIC”.
Why do they not recover?
I am convinced that in some cases, the addiction to pain and the desperate search for even ‘an ounce of comfort’ may be responsible to the persistence of physical pain. I believe that sometimes the natural desire to escape pain, contributes to its maintenance.
The explanation and solution are clearly outlined in this 1.5 hour powerpoint presentation including 12 Lessons.
